HAL 9000

HAL 9000 was a fictional AI which Anji Kapoor used as a mental reference point for real computer systems she could talk to. (PROSE: Dark Progeny [+]Loading...["Dark Progeny (novel)"])

The Ninth Doctor mentioned "HAL" alongside Alexa as an AI assistant which had been used at a point in human history. (AUDIO: Break the Ice [+]Loading...["Break the Ice (audio story)"])

  • In Dream-Eaters [+]Loading...["Dream-Eaters (TV story)"], Darius Pike experiences a nightmare in which he asks Mariah to let him out, to which the car responds "I'm sorry, Darius, but I can't do that." in a similar fashion to HAL 9000's iconic line "I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that."
  • HAL 9000 appears in an easter egg in LEGO Dimensions [+]Loading...["LEGO Dimensions (video game)"].
