For the Doctor who worked at Ashbridge Cottage Hospital, see Lomax.

Lomax was the Korven Imperial Commander who had traveled from the future to manipulate the British government, warping it into a fascist paradigm that dominated The British Isles, The Americas and Oceania during the mid-21st century. He disguised his true form by hiding behind a human silhouette and using a speech translator to make his voice seem Human. He intended to weaken Earth's defenses in preparation for a mass invasion by his kind after the invasion in the late 25th century failed as did all subsequent attempts to correct this, especially those in the early 27th century.

Lomax made the preparations for invasion in the 501st Century discovering that The Space-Time Manipulator that had crashed on Earth aeons ago (K9TV: Angel of the North) had been used as a bridgehead for one of the aforementioned "correction" attempts (K9TV: The Korven) He than decided that he could use it as the bridgehead for a fully fledged invasion and set out to weaken humanity through it's government, breathing life into the totalitarian Department (K9TV: The Eclipse of the Korven) K9 Mark 2's predecessor had a minor role in this plan, being duped into assassinating the last four Jixen in existence so as to revive the Korven's transracial ties with the Merons, these ties having been established in the 51st century with the Korven providing the Merons with energy weapons that they used to turn the tables on the Jixen, obliterating their homeworld and colonies (K9TV: Hound of the Korven) This plan went awry when the Jixen's bodyguard, Ahab killed Zanthus Pia, the head of The Galactic Peace Commission and an essential part of the Jixen's plan to prevent this invasion from ever coming to fruition with the attack being performed out of an unknown necessity. (K9TV: The Bounty Hunter) The malfunctioning Space-Time Manipulator abducted K-9 and the Jixen and brought them to London in the far, distant past. There K-9 regenerated and helped to both form and lead the Earth's front line of defense against paranormal and extraterrestrial threats aswell as the overall menace of The Department (K9TV: Regeneration) while only one of the four Jixen remained intact(K9TV: Hound of the Korven) Later on Ahab himself came back but he too was vanquished (K9TV: The Bounty Hunter)

As Drake and June argued over whose jurisdiction K9 was under, Drake decided to ask Lomax. Lomax said that he would consider the matter and ordered them to continue them their work while he thought it over. He later came to the resolution that K9 is under the control of the Department, specifically June's division, that of extraterrestrial research and defense.(K9TV: The Bounty Hunter)

Later, Drake captured a Medes starship plotting to use its technology to spy on the entire city without being caught by anyone, even Lomax. (K9TV: Alien Avatar)

Lomax later sent Drake to Sector SE14 Delta to investigate a possible extraterrestrial incursion crisis concerning the disappearance of the Great Oak. (K9TV: The Last Oak Tree)

After Drake almost caused the destruction of Humanity through The Hunger Lomax decided that although Drake had served with The Department for many years this was not his first breach of orders but it was his most serious resulting in his being moved onto lesser duties. He then gave the job to Inspector Thorne, the former governor of Dauntless Prison. (K9TV: Black Hunger)

When June found out Thorne took an Ukkan library card, she informed Lomax. He gave her a message to give Thorne, explaining that he wanted a good explanation as to why he has been interfering with alien technology while also demanding the card back within twelve hours otherwise Thorne would be forced to resign. (K9TV: Lost Library of Ukko)

Lomax knew about K9's Regeneration circuit, ordering Thorne to take K9's regeneration unit and bring it to him as it was Time Lord technology and would be of great benefit to the Department. After Thorne's failure to destroy K9 with the Pain-Maker he assured him that the Department would have no recorded connection with Crashclub and that Freddie Maxwell would take the whole fall. He told Thorne that as K9 knew of Thorne's intent to take his regeneration technology it would make acquiring it harder though Thorne told him it wouldn't be impossible and promised they would gain it and their plans would succeed. Lomax left it with him and ordered him to use all the powers at his disposal, Thorne assuring that he intended to. (K9TV: Robot Gladiators)

Later Gryffen told June that he needed to get to the site of the crashed fallen angel in Canada to acquire the missing key to the Space-Time Manipulator, the temporal stabiliser. Thorne informed Lomax of this and he gave Thorne the decision of whether or not to take Gryffen or not. He replied that he seemed very excited about it and said it was worth a shot. Lomax told Thorne to assist him in every way possible, to travel with him to the site and keep an eye on him at all times as they didn't want him meddling. (K9TV: Angel of the North)

Lomax's true identity and motives were later revealed, as he attempted to set in motion the Korven invasion. He was killed when he and his comrades were sucked into the Space-Time Manipulator as it exploded in a fiery inferno. (K9TV: The Eclipse of the Korven)

Behind the Scenes

  • Lomax is referred to as 'LOMAXX' in the official K9 site. [1] But was credited as 'Lomax' in Robot Gladiators.
  • The Eclipse of the Korven establishes that Lomax was with the Korven invasion force in the year 50'000, suggesting that he had a way of communicating through history without actually travelling through it. This, along with his appearance as leader of the Department, is reminiscent of Future Guy, an antagonist from Star Trek: Enterprise.
