Stories with unknown or disputed Doctors is for the organisation of stories where the incarnation of the Doctor is unclear or outright unknown. Note that all stories in this category must be within this wiki's definition of what is canon. A primary example of the kind of story this category accepts are the late TV Comic Fourth Doctor reprints, in which the Fourth Doctor's head had been stuck onto the Third Doctor's body from a previous strip. Since both versions are technically valid, the stories can't be said to be either Third Doctor or Fourth Doctor stories, so they come here.

In other words, this is category is not for stories where the Doctor is clearly non-canonical, such as with the Doctor Who Unbound series, parodies like The Curse of Fatal Death, or Doctors who have been specifically rejected by the Doctor Who production team, like the Shalka Doctor. Those kind of Doctors should be placed within category:non-canonical Doctors.
