The Sydney Harbour Bridge was an iconic part of the Sydney skyline. From many vantage points, it could be glimpsed alongside the Sydney Opera House.

In the 1970s, the bridge, along with the rest of the Australian city, was destroyed by the Daleks, who had launched missiles from stolen nuclear submarines. The Daleks had irradiated Sydney with the hopes of turning it into a base from which to take over the rest of the world. Since they had carried out the attack by sub, they would have to sail into the Harbour to make their landing. This required that they sail their submarine underneath the remains of the bridge — where the Third Doctor and Lt Davis had a trap in store for the Daleks. As the submarine passed underneath, Davis sent down an electrically-charged cable to the deck, which killed all the Daleks at once. (TVA: *Sub Zero)

According to another account, Sydney had likely not been destroyed by a nuclear weapon in the 1970s, as it was vibrant in 2009. Then, a news report showed fireworks being launched over a decidedly whole Sydney Harbour Bridge, in celebration of the Earth's return to its normal place in space. (DW: Journey's End)

The bridge was definitively identified in the text of *Sub Zero as being the "harbour bridge" in Sydney, and, of course, by its distinctive visual style.
