Dr. Who was a rather eccentric Human scientist, living in a cottage of England with his grand-daughter Susan and Barbara. He also had a niece named Louise. Dr. Who had invented time travel in the form of the TARDIS, a machine, the exterior of which looked just like a police box.

While Ian was visiting his house he, Susan and Barbara went to have a look at the TARDIS. A lever was accidentally pressed and Dr. Who and his friends and family, transporting them to Skaro.

There is also another person called Dr. Who who lives in the land of fictions and is a different person from Dr. Who here despit ehaving the same name.

Behind the Scenes

Although various unofficial attempts to explain the existence of Dr. Who in the mainstream Doctor Who Universe, so far he has not appeared in it, even though a few recent comics and short stories have featured him. The actor Peter Cushing, who played Dr. Who, however, exists in the Doctor Who Universe. According to the Past Doctors Adventure Salvation, following the events portrayed in the novel, Cushing played a fictionalized version of the First Doctor in a film based on them, though possibly not in the manner of Dr. Who from the Dalek films.
