Wassy

Wassy was a village in France, about 200 kilometres east of Paris. On 1 March 1562, some 25 Huguenots were killed at the town's Reform Church by the Catholic Duke Francois de Guise. The act sparked the French Religious Wars. (DW: The Massacre of St Bartholomew's Eve, DWN: The Massacre)
