Grace Holloway
Dr. Grace Holloway was a San Francisco cardiologist and ally of the Doctor.
Profile
Grace's hospital called her in to save the Doctor after his shooting in an alleyway. When the Doctor later regenerated into a new form, Grace at first refused to believe he was the same man, but gradually became convinced.
She was possessed for a short while by the Master, during which time she betrayed the Doctor. She later unwillingly opened the Eye of Harmony inside the TARDIS.
In the end she decided not to go with the Doctor. The Doctor departed in the TARDIS and each of them went their separate ways.
Grace expressed an interest in Puccini's operas and the art of da Vinci. She was also the live-in girlfriend of one Brian for a while, though he left him the same day she met the Eightth Doctor. (DW: Doctor Who: The TV Movie).
After their parting, Grace moved to Bel Air, where she worked as a surgeon for three years, before Torchwood offered her a position as a medical officer. Grace had never heard of the organisation and refused their request, thinking that the people had come to see her were kranks. She nearly turned down a job offer by UNIT to become a medical officer, until she found out that The Doctor (in his Ninth incarnation) had pulled some strings to get her appointed to this position.
She moved to London to take up this post. Whilst there, she had a drunken fling with her assistant at the time, Owen Harper, after he had a row with his girlfriend, Katie, which resulted in the birth of her daughter, but she never told him, as he absolved his guilt by getting engaged to Katie, and he died, in the core of a reactor that flooded with radiation, never knowing he was a father. She left UNIT and moved to Stirling in Scotland, where she took a job in a private clinic, and to bring up her daughter. Currently, she is living and working in London and was there when the Toclafane invaded Earth, and used her medical skills to the fullest to help the injured, but she never knew The Doctor had been there also, as one year of her life was reversed, when the Paradox Machine was destroyed.
