- New Doctor actor Peter Capaldi was filming The Musketeers in Prague when he received a call from his agent who said "Hello, Doctor!"
- Peter Capaldi's first memory of Doctor Who was probably the Zarbi when he was four.
- The new Doctor had previously been seen at the end of the Christmas Special (The Time of the Doctor), and his eyes had been glimpsed in the Anniversary story (The Day of the Doctor). Peter Capaldi had previously played Caecilius in 2008 (The Fires of Pompeii)

- This issue featured the arrival of the new Doctor and a new look (well a few tweaks at least along with a new regular price increase), for the magazine. The comic story is split into two halves and another new feature is a TARDIS tracker quiz throughout the magazine pages.
- No subscription offer is available for this title.
- A Doctor Who Adventures app is now available £1.99 (UK).
- This issue had a cover price of £3.99 (UK) and the free gift was bagged.
- Next issue's free gift is a magnetic TARDIS and two lenticular cards.
