When two versions of Melanie Bush encountered each other from different points in their personal timeline, the Sixth Doctor attempted to differentiate them by calling them "Mel A" and "Mel B". When one of the Mels asked if another version of herself showed up if she would be called "Mel C", the Doctor stated that it could not be allowed to happen as it was the "wrong decade for the Spice Girls".
