When two versions of Melanie Bush encountered each other from different points in their personal timeline, the Sixth Doctor attempted to differentiate them by calling them "Mel A" and "Mel B". When one of the Mels asked if another version of herself showed up if she would be called "Mel C", the Doctor stated that it could not be allowed to happen as it was the "wrong decade for the Spice Girls". Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Wrong Doctors [+]Loading...["The Wrong Doctors (audio story)"] references the Spice Girls with the names Mel B and Mel C, the stage names of band members Melanie Brown and Melanie Chisholm respectively.

When she was a member of the Spice Girls, Mel B went by the name "Scary Spice". Lance Parkin, author of The Dying Days [+]Loading...["The Dying Days (novel)"], wrote that he considered more roles for real world individuals in the novel but refrained due to legal nervousness. One image in mind was of Gazza and Scary Spice joining the fight against the Ice Warriors, which Parkin thought would have been "irredeemably camp".[1]
