When explaining Cargo Cults in the South Seas, Jack Harkness referred to one tribe that worshipped the Duke of Edinburgh for "reasons [he] never really understood." Jack stated that this was a good reason to keep advanced alien artefacts in the Torchwood archives, believing Torchwood had a responsibility to stop Earth's cultures from becoming contaminated. The "Prince Philip movement" is a real world religious movement that believes in the divinity of Prince Philip, followed by the Yaohnanen people on the island of Tanna. The origins, as Jack Harkness states in The Beauty of Our Weapons, are unclear.
