Cargo Cult

According to Jack Harkness, Cargo Cults existed in the South Seas.
The cargo cults were made up of primitive tribes who lived on isolated islands. When they first saw aircraft flying overhead they built a religion based upon them, which Jack said "perverted their own cultures into something unnatural". By 2008, one such tribe ended up worshipping the Duke of Edinburgh.
Jack saw this as a reason for making sure artefacts remained in the Torchwood archives, believing Torchwood had a responsibility to stop Earth's cultures from becoming contaminated. (PROSE: The Beauty of Our Weapons [+]Loading...["The Beauty of Our Weapons (short story)"])
