Uher was a brand that manufactured tape recorders.
Uher branded tape recorders were used by US President Richard Nixon to tape conversations in the Oval Office. One such conversation taped was a phone call between Nixon and Melody Pond. Uher was a real world electronics brand that manufactured tape-recording machines that were used in the Nixon White House taping system. The model that was mainly used in the White House system was an Uher 5000.[1] The model which appears in The Impossible Astronaut [+]Loading...["The Impossible Astronaut (TV story)"] is an Uher 4400.
