Velociraptor
Velociraptors, also known simply as raptors, were a genus of small dinosaur, smaller than a human. They lived in Mongolia on Earth during the Cretaceous period.

Better known in the popular imagination as raptors, Velociraptors were fast-moving predators. Their name, which meant "terrible claw", referred to the sickle-shaped claw on each foot. While these claws could be used to stab prey, they were more often used for climbing and for clinging onto larger creatures. Velociraptors preyed on larger herbivores like Tenontosaurus; the raptors leapt onto their prey and held on with their claws, while biting and tearing with their incredibly powerful jaws. The Fountain of Youth revived a Velociraptor, which the Tremas Master shrank and killed with the Tissue Compression Eliminator. However, the velociraptor then landed back in the Fountain and was revived again, albeit miniscule in size due to the Compression Eliminator's use on it. (PROSE: A Town Called Eternity)

Velociraptors (PROSE: Prehistory Repeating Itself [+]Loading...["Prehistory Repeating Itself (feature)"]) were among the species placed aboard the Silurian Ark to repopulate the Earth with after the catastrophe the Silurians incorrectly predicted had passed. When Solomon came aboard the Ark, he was cornered and attacked by three raptors, which badly mutilated his legs before he was saved by two robots. In the 24th century, when the Eleventh Doctor and his companions came aboard the Silurian Ark, John Riddell and Amy Pond kept several attacking raptors out of the Ark's control room, using electric tranquillisers to knock them out. On the alternate Earth ruled by the Silurians, the Velociraptor was one of the creatures that the Silurians bought back from extinction. They were allowed to roam freely and were presumably used for hunting by the Silurians. (PROSE: Blood Heat)
