Captain Alexander Marfleet had the Isabella passed on to him by his father and became its captain, although he struggled to be assertive and was sometimes ignored by his crew. After Unsworth tried to exploit the superstitious nature he inherited from his father in order to gain control of the ship, Captain Marfleet demoted him and replaced him with Anna.
