The one hundred twenty-fourth issue of the Doctor Who DVD Files - "The Ultimate Build-up Doctor Who Encyclopaedia" had a cover date of 2 October 2013.

- Each issue came with a DVD release.
- Reversible DVD sleeves enabled the collector to display one of two designs featuring either the Doctor and his enemies or his companions.
- "Now drop your weapons or I'll kill him with this deadly jelly baby!"
- Travelling alone, the Doctor arrives on {sic} planet on which a tribe called the Sevateem worship the god Xoanon. He soon discovers that Xoanon is in fact a computer that he once tried to repair but instead drove completely insane. Why is the Doctor's face carved into a mountainside? Who is the Evil One? How do the Tesh serve Xoanon? And can the Doctor persuade his new friend Leela that he doesn't eat babies?

- Horda are crab-like carnivorous creatures.
- Cyber Planners are semi-sentient machines that soak up data creating a hive-mind for its populations of which have been absorbed into the Cyberiad (the Cyber race).
- In the 1996 short story Continuity Errors, Steven Moffat first used the idea of the Doctor changing someone's past in order to get what he wanted from them. It was an idea he returned to for A Christmas Carol (2010).
- With only three weeks before filming there was no final script for what was to become the final two episodes of The Trial of a Time Lord, hastily written by Pip and Jane Baker.
- Some subscribers experienced a delay of receiving this issue of several months.
