Chancellor Gobran was chancellor to Queen Thalira. Loyal to the throne, he used a weak poison that his mother had given to him for sleep to medicate the Peladonians when there were signs of a republican uprising.
Gobran accepted the Subsumers from Ribble, later claiming that he was unaware that they were slaves, and suggested to Thalira that she make him her regent to strengthen the monarchy. He did not trust River Song and, during the Galactic Federation's inspection, made Thalira think that River had tried to poison her and had been making her granddaughter ill. He was later killed when Father Mendica released two Aggedors, using his last breath to tell River to protect his Queen. (AUDIO: The Poison of Peladon)
