- While not explicitly named, the man is John Constantine from Alan Moore's The Saga of Swamp Thing comic series by DC Comics.
- In The Left-Handed Hummingbird, Hamlet Macbeth was trying to tracking down "that sorcerer in Liverpool", another likely reference to John Constantine.
