Middlesbrough was a town in Britain.
There existed a river through it, with a bridge going over it, and it contained the Burroughs Charted Surveyor, Muriel Frost's flat, and the Evenings' home. (COMIC: Evening's Empire)
History[[edit] | [edit source]]
20th century[[edit] | [edit source]]
During World War 2, a German pilot flying a plane during a summer night crashed into a Q'Dhite Mind-Treader, both crashing into the river beneath them.
In the 1990s, UNIT's Colonel Muriel Frost, her boyfriend Nick, and Alex and Janice Evening lived there. Alex had a hobby of building model aeroplanes, and he found what he thought was a toy that had washed up from the river, but it was actually the Q'Dhite Mind-Treader, which allowed him to build a world of his design, enabling him to express his unhealthy personality after years of abuse from his mother. Later, after finding that his creations weren't enough, he kidnapped at least two local girls, Wendy and Shaz, and abused them.
Not long after, the Seventh Doctor and Ace began investigating a potential UFO that had crashed in Middlesbrough in World War 2 with UNIT, Corporal Ives and Colonel Muriel Frost. UNIT retrieved the sunken Nazi plane from World War 2, however when Ace went into the Burroughs Charted Surveyor to obtain local records, she was kidnapped by Alex.
Later, Muriel Frost used a machine in Middlesbrough the Doctor built to enter the mind of the long-dead pilot, an experienced that challenged her, despite her well-known ferocity. That night, the Doctor went into the Burroughs Charted Surveyor to look for Ace while Ives and Frost remained outside; the Doctor later left to follow Alex, and Ives drove Frost back to her flat, though Frost had an argument with her abusive boyfriend, Nick, there. After Frost nearly killed Nick, she and Ives went to the Doctor, at the Evenings' home, to locate the Mind-Treader and save Ace from Alex, who had travelled to Alex's world. The Doctor later returned to Middlesbrough to pick up Janice Evening to use her to reprimand her son, causing the destruction of Alex's world. After the ordeal, Ace let the petals of a flower she took from Alex's world float onto the river, symbolising her blocking out the horrific memories that she gained in Alex's world. Location information
Though it's possible that a real world location doesn't exist in the same geographic space in the Doctor Who universe, such cases are few and far between. Thus, the map to the right is probably a good indicator of the DWU location of Middlesbrough.
