Sand and snow ammunition was used by some Native American tribes. Instead of powder and shot they would substitute dirt or snow and grass.
The male Paiute witch Tibo'o was the first to develop the process. He tried to teach it to others, but it required years of training and the proper sacrifices and rituals. (PROSE: The Book of the War)
