A Sea Devil menaced the Seventh Doctor on a ravaged Earth that had almost been destroyed by competing factions of invaders. Another Sea Devil, as well as two Daleks, a Sontaran, Ice Warrior, and Zygon, also threatened the Doctor. Although the Sea Devil fired its weapon in the Doctor's direction, he was forced to flee instead of standing to fight his enemies because Ace had informed him that Gary Russell was worried he was going to miss his deadline for a quote in his 200th issue.
