The Sleep Replacement System was invented by John Lumic in Pete's World. It bypassed the need to sleep in humans, allowing Lumic to act as CEO of Cybus Industries 24/7. He later incorporated the technology into the Ultimate Upgrade™ project's Cybermen. (PROSE: Lumic)
