Sloathe

Sloathes were a species encountered by the Doctor, Bernice Summerfield, Chris Cwej, and Roz Forrester in a place called the System, a pocket dimension comprised of multiple dimensions.

Native to Planet X (a rogue planet which had found its way inside the System), the Sloathes were able to shapeshift - usually appearing as extremely complex and abstract forms. These forms were based on "cursory and rather inept observation", for most Sloathes completely lacked generative creativity. When not morphing, Sloathes were obloidal in shape.

Sloathe psychology was largely based on external forces - with the Sloathes working for the extremely vicious Solan becoming as vicious as him. Most Sloathes use a unique dialect of English (putting "Is" at the beginning of sentences and using "hominids" instead of people to refer to groups of non-Sloathes). The main driving force for many Sloathes is greed. This was largely due to the long time spent in isolation within Planet X's subterranean tunnels. (PROSE: Sky Pirates!)

One of its members, called Sgloomi Po, had escaped into the universe Benny and the Doctor normally habituated. Sloathes were both metamorphic and single-gendered, something that caused Benny to think of Sgloomi as a "hir", not a "him" or a "her". Consequently, Sloathes like Sgloomi had difficulties understanding human sexuality. (PROSE: Oblivion)

History[[edit] | [edit source]]

Upon entering into the System, the Sloathes began to spread outwards into its confines and began looting the other planets within it. Driven largely by Kraator Xem, the Sloathes invaded the four Wanderers and nearly caused their inhabitants to go extinct. (PROSE: Sky Pirates!)

Notes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • Though not stated within Heart of TARDIS or The Slow Empire, the Collectors (a species showcased in both books named) could be a group of Sloathes who managed to escape the System or N-Space analogues for the Sloathes.
