The Creatures in the Cave was a story which was original to the anthology The HAVOC Files. It explained what happened to Edward Travers and the Great Intelligence after the end of The Abominable Snowmen.

- The yeti called Kabadom which Travers is following is described as being taller than the robot yeti, with long, silky fur akin to that of a great reddish house cat, and soft, ringed eyes like a lemur.

- A note before the story explains "This story is set straight after the television story Doctor Who: The Abominable Snowmen".

- This story begins with Travers following a yeti up the mountain, the same yeti which he was seen pursuing at the end of TV: The Abominable Snowmen. Travers recalls meeting an unkempt little man, cocky young Scot and waif-like English girl at Det-Sen Monastery.
- Travers discovers that the Great Intelligence lives, as was revealed in TV: The Web of Fear.
- Travers mentions Professor Walters, who was first mentioned in the novelisation of that story, PROSE: Doctor Who and the Abominable Snowmen.
- Travers mentions his wife, Margaret, who previously been mentioned in PROSE: One Cold Step.
- Travers is pulled into a "blinding white nothingness", PROSE: Times Squared reveals that he was pulled to the year 1965.
