Tommy Morgan had read the book, so he was unfazed when he met the Eighth Doctor, who claimed to be an alien and was searching for another alien in 1928. (PROSE: Far from Home)

- Gethin Anthony voiced Bedford in Big Finish Productions' adaptation of The First Men in the Moon.
- Alan Cox voiced Shapps, Bartoli and Selinites in Big Finish Productions' adaptation of The First Men in the Moon.
- In 2010, Mark Gatiss wrote and co-starred in a television adaptation of this novel. It also starred Rory Kinnear, and featured Peter Forbes, Katherine Jakeways, Lee Ingleby and Julia Deakin. This television movie was edited by Liana Del Giudice, who was already a long-time editor for Doctor Who, beginning with The Empty Child, and who would go on to edit the 50th anniversary special The Day of the Doctor.
