Woking (Embankment Station)
Woking was a 21st century British government official who acted as a contingency measure in anticipation of alien phenomena.
Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]
Early life[[edit] | [edit source]]
Woking, which may or may not have been his real name, (AUDIO: Ruffling) was hired by the British government in a clandestine position which involved being prepared for alien attacks and phenomena. (AUDIO: Embankment Station) He trained for years to be ready for disaster situations. (AUDIO: Seed of Chaos) He once drank wine with the Minister, his superior, at a Home Office reception which she expected to be the last time she would ever see him. (AUDIO: Embankment Station)
The Identical Men[[edit] | [edit source]]
Following the Embankment tube station tremor, Woking had soldiers search the London Underground and ordered them to tranquillise and capture Charlotte Pollard and Robert Buchan, whom he then had transported to Department 001 on stretchers to be interrogated. He informed the Minister of his investigations and showed her the video he was sent of the Identical Men. (AUDIO: Embankment Station)
Woking attempted to recapture Charley and Robert after their escape and, when the Minister brought Naomi Davies and Rab to him believing that they might be the time travellers, he had them sign the Official Secrets Act and assist him. He issued a 7-40-L to get Charley, Robert and Bertram transported to him from Westminster Police Station and locked up the two humans whilst he interrogated Bertram and used an MRI on him, being distrustful of him as an alien. Captain Warwick took the Minister hostage to force Woking to meet him, after which a fight broke out and Woking prevented his captives from escaping. (AUDIO: Ruffling)
Having been wounded in the fighting, Woking collapsed and was carried to safety by Bertram, eventually being airlifted to receive medical care by a government helicopter. He was left bedbound and, after three or four days, employed Charley, Robert and Bertram's help, accepting their stories of their origins, and told them that the Prime Minister wished to speak to them. Afterwards, he went with Charley, Robert, Bertram and Sergeant Hunter to Embankment and escaped from the Identical Men after Bertram teleported himself, Charley and Robert away. (AUDIO: Seed of Chaos)
Aftermath[[edit] | [edit source]]
Woking returned to the Prime Minister and learnt what had happened to Charley and Robert when Bertram returned, also learning more about the Identical Men and the fact that the Machine had left Earth. He later received a message from Rab and brought him and Naomi to him from Slough to contact Charley on Rab's laptop. Ultimately, Bertram left to join Charley on Gelrasi and the Prime Minister bombed Central London, despite Bertram telling her that it would be pointless to do so. (AUDIO: The Destructive Quality of Life)
Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]
Whilst it is not confirmed in-universe whether or not "Woking" is the character's real name, Nicholas Briggs has said that it is indeed a codename. (BFX: Charlotte Pollard: Series Two)
