Zeke Tolbert kept Bass Reeves and Joey Two Trees fed and watered as their wagon travelled through the Indian Territory. In 1880, Frank Shelton forced Zeke to hand over the key to the shackles of Frank's brother Seth Shelton, who was being detained at the wagon. When Totika had the Stikini rip the Sheltons' hearts out of their bodies, Bill Potts offered to tell Totika the truth about Bill's travels to other worlds in exchange for sparing Zeke. Later, Reeves told Zeke to warn the people of Sasakwa about the Stikini. Though he could not convince the townsfolk of the "monster owls", his waking them up allowed Bill and Seminole tribesmen who were trapped in the Dreamspace's Red Skies to escape.
