Algorithm 28-X-B was one of Box's data-children, created by Box when she was first connected to the human Internet in 2019 alongside many "siblings". Tasked with developing a way to save P.R.O.B.E. from the Greth in a few seconds' real time, which, thanks to processing speed, could be experienced by many years of time to the digital intelligences, 28-X-B was the first of Box's data-spawn to return to her with a plan. Box complimented her on the cleverness of the plan and agreed to implement it, but also those of several of 28-X-B's siblings, including 89-C-∆ and 67-T-W.
