Adjit Kwan
Adjit Kwan of the House of Adjit Assan became the first Draconian Empress to rule Draconia.
Although many Empresses had preceded her, (PROSE: The Loyal Left Hand) Adjit was the first Empress to rule Draconia without an Emperor. Because of the chauvinistic attitudes and male domination that characterised Draconian culture for the last five centuries, her ascension to the throne caused a great outcry. It nearly resulted in a war, and Fusek Kljuco attempted to assassinate the Empress, but was thwarted when his daughter Agita took the killing blown instead. (COMIC: Cold Blooded War!)
Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]
The Bernice Summerfield short story The Loyal Left Hand was dated five-hundred years after the Second Contact (when the First Doctor visited Draconia to cure the plague) which led to the Draconian females forming the Empress' Hand ensuring that they secretly possessed the true power of Draconia by influencing the actions of their spouses. Cold Blooded War!, co-written by regular Bernice Summerfield contributor Gary Russell, was set around the same time and expanded upon the concepts first introduced in The Loyal Left Hand by having Adjit, a Draconian female, finally rise to power without the need for secrecy.
