An altimeter was a navigational device found on airborne ships. According to the Fifth Doctor, it gave the user the vertical distance from the ground. Erimem was once tasked with reading the altimeter of a spacecraft the Doctor was manually piloting as it crashed on the surface of Peladon. (AUDIO: The Bride of Peladon)
