The America was a sailing vessel that had been involved in a race across the Atlantic Ocean. She managed the crossing in seventeen days. Though Collier was clearly impressed with that speed, Turlough was not. He was completely baffled why Collier would characterise America as a "flier". (TV: Enlightenment)

Though unremarked by the story, the race in which the ship had been involved the America's Cup, renamed after this ship, its original winner.
