Dr Amira Hussein was a friend of Owen Harper.

Amira was close to her mother before going to university, where she befriended Owen Harper and, later, Katie Russell. She teased the former about the amount of hair gel he used but not telling him that his beard looked stupid. Owen credited her with getting him through cardiology and helped her lift a new motor bike. Although initially aloof with her patients, she became a better person.
She attended Katie's funeral and hoped that she and Owen would be able to help one another get through the grieving process. However, Owen joined Torchwood and they only met up for coffee once afterwards, with Owen failing to respond to her messages. She died six months after Katie's funeral in a cycling accident. Amira was not a panicker. She preferred unconscious patients to conscious ones, making Owen believe that she thought herself to good to talk to them. However, she grew out of this and became kind, loving psychiatrics. (AUDIO: Iceberg)
