Ammonium sulphide was a substance that was, according to Victoria Waterfield, just a "stink bomb". The Second Doctor used ammonium sulphide against the Ice Warriors, reasoning that it would act as a toxic gas against the inhabitants of Mars, as they were used to a chiefly nitrogen atmosphere.
