Armitage (The Unbegotten)
Armitage was a politician and head of a department of the British government.
Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]
Early life[[edit] | [edit source]]
Armitage had a better education than Norton Folgate. At school, he had a fag whom he was determined to break but who never made a sound even when he was branded with a toasting fork. He claimed that he seemed to attract "pansies" and that they followed in his steps from fifth form onwards. He went on to become head of a department of the British government, serving as a political fixer, and sometimes saw the fag he tried to break at the Foreign Office. He also joined a private members' club. (AUDIO: The Unbegotten [+]Loading...["The Unbegotten (audio story)"])
Government career[[edit] | [edit source]]
On 12 April 1942, Armitage ignored Professor Salt's attempts to protect an alien sentinel found on Mandeville Walk and instead had it blown up, unaware that this would cause more than a decade of what was believed to be ghostly activity. (AUDIO: The Unbegotten [+]Loading...["The Unbegotten (audio story)"]) He was aware of Norton Folgate's role in putting an end to Ashenden in the 1950s and how his attitude turned the government against him (AUDIO: Ascension [+]Loading...["Ascension (Torchwood Soho audio story)"]) and was familiar with Gideon Lyme's work in Tobago. Appearance[[edit] | [edit source]]
Norton Folgate thought that Armitage was dashing. He wore an anti-radiation suit from Savile Row. (AUDIO: The Unbegotten [+]Loading...["The Unbegotten (audio story)"])
Personality[[edit] | [edit source]]
Armitage often described things as "classic". He was content to use torture to extract information (AUDIO: The Unbegotten [+]Loading...["The Unbegotten (audio story)"]) and to sacrifice people whom he deemed less socially important for the benefit of the country's economy.
