Barry was a friend of Moira.
When Bill Potts heard someone in the shower in her flat and learned that it wasn't Moira, she asked if it was Barry, telling him that Moira was with Neville. It turned out to be the sentient oil creature that had followed her home. (TV: The Pilot)
