Between the Wars: A Slow Night in Paradise was a four page short story published in the graphic novel Abslom Daak - Dalek Killer in 1990 by Marvel Comics. It was created to fill a narrative gap between the comic stories and Star Tigers and Nemesis of the Daleks. John Freeman was credited as editor.

Abslom Daak sits at a bar during a lull in action before the assault on the Daleks on Hell. A homicidal maniac known as the Mechanic stalks the streets out for revenge on an enemy he knows is nearby.

- Editor and illustrator credits for this story were listed separately in the graphic novel under Production Notes. Writer John Tomlinson was identified by his given name with the story but by his pseudonym Steve Alan in Production Notes.
- Spock appears to be sitting at the Mars Old-Fashioned Alcohol Bar.
- In a similar scenario, Worf and a Ferengi were at Bonjaxx's Bar in COMIC: Party Animals.
- Spock and the USS Enterprise crew would appear in COMIC: Assimilation², an official crossover with Star Trek.
- Lee Sullivan would later draw Spock in the background of COMIC: Liberation of the Daleks.
- Sullivan later drew another Sontaran bartender serving Absalom Daak at the Existentialist's Bar in COMIC: Emperor of the Daleks!.
