Bomber Command controlled the bomber forces of the British Royal Air Force from 1936 to 1968. From 1942, Bomber Command played a key role in the strategic bombing of Germany during World War II, working alongside the US Air Force. However, bombing from high altitude tended to be inaccurate, and the effectiveness of the bomber forces was generally overestimated. (PROSE: A History of Humankind)
