- In the real world, the Book of Dzyan was claimed by Madame Blavatsky to be an ancient Tibetan text. It formed part of the basis for the theosophical movement. The book was mentioned in several stories by H. P. Lovecraft's circle of literary friends, including his own short story The Haunter of the Dark.
