Brian Phipps

Professor Brian Phipps was a naturalist and pipe-smoker who was a friend of the Third Doctor and the father of Tom Phipps. His house was consumed by what appeared to be a freak tornado, but which turned out to be a conduit to an alien spaceship above Earth. He was apparently on good terms with his local vicar, who took in him and his wife after they lost their house. (COMIC: The Vortex)
