Bunbury was Lizbeth Hayhoe's dog. Following her death, he was cared for by Norton Folgate and Gideon Lyme.

When Lizbeth was pulled out of time prior to her death, she told Andy Davidson that she would turn her sister Margaret into glue if she had destroyed her dog, (AUDIO: Ashenden [+]Loading...["Ashenden (audio story)"]) Bunbury. As Lizbeth died, she mentioned her dog to Norton Folgate and he agreed to feed it. He later invited Gideon Lyme to live with him at 14 Endicott Terrace and told him that they now had a dog. (AUDIO: Parasite [+]Loading...["Parasite (audio story)"]) He wondered what he would tell the dog after Lyme broke up with him at Ashenden. (AUDIO: Ashenden [+]Loading...["Ashenden (audio story)"])

Norton told Lyme that the dog missed him after the two of them broke up. Lyme said that he missed the dog. (AUDIO: The Unbegotten [+]Loading...["The Unbegotten (audio story)"]) Once they reconciled, Norton told Lyme that it was always Lyme's turn to walk the dog.
