"Catch and release" was a fishing technique. The Second Doctor caught a trout when he, Jamie McCrimmon and Victoria Waterfield went fishing with a young William Wallace. The Doctor freed the fish from the hook and put it back in the water. (PROSE: On a Pedestal)
