British monarchs

I'm not 100% clear on why this category can't be placed in Category:British monarchs, as its description currently decrees. Surely English monarchs are British monarchs (in that they are Monarchs who are British), even if they're not Monarchs of Britain? If a category were to only include Monarchs of Great Britain, it should be called Category:Monarchs of Great Britain (and Category:Monarchs of the United Kingdom to boot). Yep, I've been meaning to reorganise the category tree for a little while now so please do go ahead with these changes. Even without your concerns, the category description is an egregious violation of T:NO RW; note that Planet of the Dead calls Athelstan a King of Britain and The Dying Days calls James I a King of the United Kingdom.– The preceding unsigned comment was added by Borisashton (talk • contribs) .

I think "permission" is the wrong way to think about this anyway — what we need is a community discussion building up to a consensus to change the current practice — until which time T:POINT applies. User:Borisashton, you probably should not unilaterally launch into "reorganising the category tree".

However, this talk page can be that very discussion. I'll drop a message to User:CzechOut to check it out if he has the time, of course, as he may have valuable insight we've missed, but neither, I think, are we beholden to his decisions from ten years ago if a consensus builds up to alter them. Hence: could we get some more input (and possibly more quotes from valid sources) on the matter of the differences between "Monarch of England", "Monarch of Great Britain", "British monarch" and so on in the DWU?
