"Sentient insects" and "Insectoid species"[[edit source]]

I'm not wholly clear on where the line is drawn between category:Sentient insects and category:Insectoid species. Is "sentient insects" for regular insects made sentient? Are "insectoid species" species which we would not class as insects, despite resembling them?

I'm not seeing much consistency in terms of which pages get which category. To name one example, Migrant Bees are called an "insectoid species" in the article lead, but then called "Insects" in the infobox and given "Sentient insects" as a category.

Further adding to the confusion is that the page Insectoid, which is widely linked to on such pages, is actually about a specific fictional species, rather than a class of species more generally.

To clear up the muddle I've moved the species to Insectoid (Nightshade) and redirected Insectoid to Insect (for now). – n8 () 17:43, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
