History[[edit] | [edit source]]

"O.M." once placed an advertisement in an issue of The Druimport Entwister, noting that they were looking to expand staffing, and were currently "severely" overworked. The advert then gave the address 24 Duncan Street, where the store was connected to Earth. The Celestial Department Store was a recurring background element of Lost in Space, a teleportation-based institution run by advanced alien beings with curiously Earth-like costumes and appearances — making them easily interpretable as Time Lords — whose wares were sold via transdimensional catalogue-machines which had a bad habit of malfunctioning. The Department Store was first mentioned in the 1966 episode The Android Machine, then appeared as a setting in TVThe Toymaker [+]Loading...["The Toymaker (TV story)"], where the titular character, otherwise known as "O.M.", was introduced. The Department Store would remain a plot point for two further episodes, as would its department manager and O.M.'s immediate superior, Mr Zumdish.
