The Centraxis system was a star system.

In the early 22nd century, the human colony ship New Hope flew to the Centraxis system from Earth. The majority of the ship's crew established Agora, an agricultural civilisation that eschewed the advanced technology that dominated civilisation on Earth at that point in time, and described by the Sixth Doctor as "the most remote of the prototype colonies". The rest of the crew, who did not want to live in an agricultural society, chose to depart Agora in the New Hope and established New Earth on a planet outside of the Centraxis system.
