The Children of Davros were a faction of Daleks who were in conflict with the New Dalek Paradigm, who dismissed them as "impure". This faction appeared as bronze Daleks led by a Black Dalek, as opposed to the newer casings used by the Paradigm. (NOTVALID: The Eleventh Doctor Interactive Story)

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

The image of the Cult of Skaro was used to depict the Children of Davros.
  • The Children of Davros, consisting of a Black Dalek flanked by two bronze Daleks, are depicted using archive footage of Dalek Sec and the Cult of Skaro from Daleks in Manhattan.
  • The Dalek Hierarchy feature of DWFC TLV 1 explains that the Prime Minister of the Daleks led the restored Dalek Empire through the Parliament of the Daleks after a civil war between the New Dalek Paradigm and the "Children of Davros".
  • The Magician's Apprentice/The Witch's Familiar would depict a Dalek Empire favourable to Davros, who acknowledges them as his children, based on a rebuilt Skaro. However, Davros himself states in the former episode that he does not control the Daleks despite the respect they show towards him in the latter. Additionally, these events follow the Siege of Trenzalore, which means the Empire depicted in these episodes cannot be the state that exists prior to the Parliament of the Daleks. This timeframe is established for several reasons established in secondary sources;
    • In the episode itself, the Twelfth Doctor's perspective is clear that these events are being experienced after those of the Siege of Trenazlore. While the Doctor-Dalek timelines generally line up, one could argue the Doctor is experiencing earlier Dalek history compared to what he has seen.
    • However, the book Dalek Combat Training Manual, through Time War-era Time Lord extrapolations of the Daleks' relative future, states that the events of The Magician's Apprentice and The Witch's Familiar do indeed take place after the Siege in the Daleks' perspective. While the Time Lords ponder if their extrapolations will be incorrect, the events described in the book match those of the episodes.
    • Furthermore, the book Dalek: The Astounding Untold History of the Greatest Enemies of the Universe declares that the Siege saw the deaths of the Prime Minister, the Parliament, and the original members of the New Dalek Paradigm, but notes the Daleks are still active on Skaro in the aftermath of Witch's Familiar and will likely recover from the destruction of the city seen within it. By noting the Daleks survive on Skaro in the aftermath of Witch's Familiar, Untold History dates the Daleks active on Skaro to be after the Siege.
    • No archetypes of the New Paradigm appear on the rebuilt Skaro. The book The Monster Vault notes that the Daleks have abandoned the New Paradigm design entirely, implying the Skaro Daleks to be post-Paradigm because they do not appear amongst the city's casings.
