Chris Welkin Planeteer was a comic story printed in the third Dalek annual, The Dalek Outer Space Book. Like two other stories in the same book (The Sea Monsters and The Unwilling Traveller), it had nothing directly to do with the Daleks, or any other obvious feature of the established to the Doctor Who universe, but was placed within the DWU by authorial intent, with the intent being that these stories (like all the contents of the Outer Space Book) represented elements of the future Earth setting, of interest to the Space Security Service.

Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

Dr Welkin and his colleague Dr Budd invent a new mode of spacecraft propulsion involving magnetism which provides a terrific economy on fuel. However, when the spy Tormug seeks to get ahold of the secret, he manipulates Welkin's young and innocent-seeming fan Kappy into helping him.
