Cobra Mk.1
The Cobra Mk.1 was a ground-to-space missile which was the result of a joint Anglo-American-Russian collaboration.
Although the Cobra only had "mixed success" in its trials, scoring just fifty percent interceptions, it was later fitted with a new Russian X-ray lock which gave defence experts confidence that the device could successfully track and destroy any target. It was subsequently installed at Space City in February 2065.
After Jodrell Bank picked up evidence that the Omega-Minus device had entered the Solar System and was heading for Earth at high speed, the Cobra was hailed by TV Century 21 on its front page for 27 March 2065 as "the only possible hope of destroying any hostile force" which was intent on attacking the planet.
