Cobra missile

Cobra missiles were human weapons in use in the 20th century. Snowcap Base was equipped with an arsenal of these weapons for self defence. (TV: The Tenth Planet)

When escaping the Testimony spaceship, the Twelfth Doctor noted that time was still frozen, for he was sure that Snowcap would otherwise have launched its missiles at the intruding spacecraft. (PROSE: Twice Upon a Time)

Behind the scenes

• The reference to this missile in The Tenth Planet would have emphasised to contemporaneous viewers the international flavour of Snowcap Base. Cobras were never a part the British arsenal, and were instead strongly identified with the German and continental NATO armies.
