Warner was originally a professional musician, so writing was a second career for him, which he began around the dawn of the 21st century. He has written for some of the highest-profile Australian-made television series, including McLeod's Daughters, Canal Road, Sea Patrol, Packed to the Rafters and Rescue: Special Ops.
